REPORTS TO: Global Director of Development
LOCATION: Remote position ideally based in the US (NY, NJ, DC, VA, VT, PA)
REMUNERATION: In Equality Now we strive for global pay parity and offer a competitive salary in line with the candidate's experience and location. The salary for this role in would be in the region of $51,959 to $64,949 in metro areaa and $42,450 to $53,096 in non-metro area (Level 1 role). The salary for candidates in other locations will be set using a UN Cost of Living calculator that endeavours to generate a local salary that offers the same standard of living reflected by the NYC salary. The salary is subject to change at the time of hiring as the cost of living indicator changes and FX rates stabilize.

POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Global Director of Development, the Development Assistant is responsible for all support and administrative aspects of the fundraising office, including frontline response to donor inquiries, conducting donor research and donor database management A full-time, remote position, the Assistant is an integral member of the Development team, working closely with EN staff in New York, London and Kenya. This is an excellent opportunity to work collaboratively to advance women’s equality worldwide, while gaining experience in a range of critical non-profit functions and developing professional skills.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Assistant will provide support to an expanding Development Team as follows:
• Maintain a professional and well-organized department and help to create efficiencies in core functions and operations;
• Lead the gift entry process, ensuring that all gifts received are correctly entered into Raiser’s Edge NXT in real time, help to improve data integrity through regular review and cleansing of donor/donation information and support the team in fully leveraging the database for donor tracking;
• Assist with income reconciliation in partnership with the Finance Team;
• Lead acknowledgment process, ensuring that all donors receive prompt, timely, and accurate acknowledgment letters, and maintain clear, organized records of all gifts and acknowledgment letters to ensure smooth coordination with auditors and donors who may require copies;
• Leveraging our donor database (Raiser’s Edge NXT), regularly report out on all gifts received on a weekly–and eventually daily–basis to everyone on the Development team is aware of incoming contributions, and maintain revenue reports and progress toward annual goals across each revenue line;
• Serve as the primary donor services representative by monitoring Equality Now’s supporter inboxes; providing timely, courteous and professional responses to donor inquiries and requests; and helping to steward annual fund donors as needed.
• Conduct research and develop profiles on donors & donor prospects to support frontline fundraisers.
• Prepare correspondence: proofread and format letters, reports, and documents to highest standards;
• Assist with production and distribution of Equality Now Development materials: e.g. online content, print publications, event banners and signage, photo slideshows, videos, etc.;
• Assist with solicitation and other special mailings;
• Assist with tracking and reporting on outreach to current and prospective donors;
• Assist event team in the planning and execution of special fundraising and cultivation events;
• Provide administrative support to the Global Director Development, as needed, and help to maintain team calendar and platforms; and
• Help optimize opportunities for peer-to-peer and workplace giving and support the regular maintenance of third-party giving platforms, as needed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
The Assistant must have the following assets and attributes:
● Bachelor’s degree.
● Excellent proofreading, writing and verbal communications skills.
● Outstanding organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple projects alongside regular duties, and communicate to upper management to be clear about work priorities.
● Ability to be resourceful, solve problems and self-manage key job responsibilities
● Excellent phone and relationship-building skills. Ability to interact effectively with a range of stakeholders, including high-level donors and volunteers.
● Flexible schedule required as event,campaign, and proposal deadlines sometimes require work outside normal business hours.
● Demonstrated proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, internet research, email, and file management.
● Database experience (particularly Raiser’s Edge) and project management experience is a plus, as is experience working cross-culturally/internationally, fluency in fundraising and a demonstrated interest in advancing women’s rights is a plus.
